## Voicemail boxes

In SmartPBX, each user can have a voicemail box for calls they don’t answer. You can also send your main number to a voicemail box, for example after hours.

## Greeting and PIN

Record a greeting that tells callers who they’ve reached and what to leave in their message. Protect each box with a PIN and keep it private.

## Messages from AI answering

When your AI receptionist takes a message, it arrives in the recipient’s voicemail box like any other voicemail: a spoken summary with a text summary, the caller’s name and number as caller ID, the message-waiting light and voicemail-to-email if the box has it on. Urgent messages are marked urgent. A message for someone without a box goes to the receptionist’s messages box, if you chose one, or to another box on the account. See [AI answering](https://rinzo.ai/docs/ai-answering.md).

## Transcripts

To get each message as text too, tick Transcribe for the voicemail box in SmartPBX. Voicemail transcription costs $0.02 per transcribed voicemail, from your credit. It is off until you turn it on for a voicemail box (Transcribe, in SmartPBX). Messages up to one minute long are transcribed (longer ones aren’t, and aren’t charged), and the transcript is added to the voicemail email.

## Test it

Call the user or number, let the call go unanswered and leave a message. Then check that you can play it back.
