What works in early access

Where you can call, which phone numbers are available and what is not supported yet during Topaz early access.

911 and emergency calling are not supported during early access. Topaz phones cannot reach 911 or other emergency services. Do not use Topaz as your only phone service where emergency calling may be needed: keep another way to call for help, such as a mobile phone. Emergency calling details →

Calling destinations

You can call the 48 contiguous US states, Washington DC and Canada (except Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut), plus US & Canada toll-free numbers. Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, the Caribbean, premium-rate (900) numbers and international destinations are not available yet. Calls to US & Canada toll-free numbers are included. See rates →

Phone numbers

Local US and Canadian numbers, picked by area code when you sign up. During early access, more numbers are added on request: email support@mail.topaz.tel with the area code you’d like. Toll-free numbers and porting are also by request. Each phone number costs $10 a month, taken from your credit every 30 days, or prepay it in the Control panel: $6 a month for 12 months ($72 upfront) or $4 a month for 36 months ($144 upfront). Eligible new accounts (card saved at signup) get their first number’s first month free. If your credit can’t cover a number’s monthly fee, we keep it for 7 days, then release it. Outbound calls show your Topaz number as caller ID.

Phones and connections

Any standard SIP desk phone or softphone can connect over the internet. Phones can encrypt their connection to Topaz with TLS on port 5061 and SRTP audio, or connect without encryption over UDP or TCP on port 5060. See Phones & devices. Phones need power and a working internet connection.
